How To Fly

Bend to the wind that catapults you through the air.

Laugh at the ones who stand on the ground hoping you’ll fall.

Soar higher above buildings, then continents and clouds.

Your flesh and bones have turned into wings.

Circle the earth looking up to the stars.

Planets surrounding you heading for home.

You’re not a caged being destined for tears.

You are a zenith whose Papier-mâché life disappeared.

Stretch for the sun.

Drink in the rain.

Every cell is free from the pain.

The hour has come and change is upon you.

Let go of what is not yours before it becomes you.

So I lifted my arms and my head to the sky.

And that was the day when I learned how to fly.
