I’m Leaving California
It’s time to try something new.
I have lived in California all my life. I feel tied to this state, but it’s definitely time for me to leave.
I’ve been in a long-distance relationship for about seven years. With COVID-19, and the Australian travel ban, my goals have only become more urgent.
My partner is Australian and it has always been our plan to live in the same place. I have never been in a position where I was comfortable enough to not work, so once I lost my job in February of 2020, and was unable to get another job, it only escalated everything else in my life such that this is the logical next step for me.
Trying to find a job during COVID was a nightmare. I applied everywhere but only received interest from straight commissioned insurance sales roles. I wanted to work as a remote writer, but the only people who contacted me were insurance companies looking for salespeople.
I could not take on this type of role, as you must be willing to work for zero salary, and you are paid straight commission on the number of contracts you sell. I have no interest in selling insurance.
I have worked in the investment business for many years. I have a Series 7 license (General Securities Representative) and an Insurance license in the State of California.
