Why I Ride The Bus
I decided to take the guesswork out of my daily commute.
I ride the bus to work daily.
I noticed an improvement in my general well being. I no longer arrive to work angry after sitting in seemingly endless traffic jams. I can read on the bus. I can make business calls, call my family, or work and write on my laptop.
The bonus is that the cost of transportation is much less than if I were to own a car.
The drawbacks are many:
I worry about my personal safety when riding certain public transit systems. A few weeks ago someone got stabbed on one of them.
I see human excrement while traveling inside the cars.
Sometimes the conductor decides he is not going to show up and I have to pay for an Uber to get to work. This has happened at least three times since I began riding a few months ago.
Sometimes the trains and buses are dirty.
I have to leave my house at 6:00 a.m. and I have a two-hour commute each way.
I am barely able to put in an eight hour day as I have to make sure I am on the last bus going back or I might be stranded again and would have to take another Uber.
