During the many fluctuations we’ve seen with COVID-19, your network will be there to help you build.

Do you ever hesitate to reach out to your network? I hesitate to contact some of the people I am the closest to, even though I know many of them would be happy to hear from me. Sometimes, in my mind, I think they aren’t interested in speaking to me. Do you ever feel this way? I have a large network of friends I could call, but why are we mostly ashamed to ask for help?

We don’t want to seem like to bother, I’m assuming.

We want to help others but we hate asking for help. We love a world that helps people, but we are ashamed of ourselves if we need help.

Recently on LinkedIn, a couple of friends reached out to help me, when I didn’t ask for help. I was wondering if they noticed anything unusual about what I was sharing such that they felt compelled to offer me help.

Similar situations have occurred here on Medium. I have been invited to be a guest blogger, I have been invited to collaborate, and write in a book. I’ve noticed how shy I am to say yes and sometimes I put their offers aside.

I am someone who considers herself a loner. I sometimes equate help with, “Something is wrong with me, so I better not ask for help.” I have a strong resolution to do it all myself…
